Election Monitoring

Election Monitoring

Monitoring Online Discourse and Promoting Civic Engagement

The Election Conversation Monitor

This is a digital tool that monitors election-related online conversations across Africa. We collect data from social media and news websites to identify trends and patterns in how people are talking about elections. With this data, we want to help people have more informed and productive conversations about elections.

How to use the tool

Click on the button below to view mention trends of certain keywords relevant to the country. Each country’s monitoring period begins six months before the election and ends two months later. For depth, we solely follow local news and media outlets in each country holding elections. Additionally, we only monitor general and presidential elections.

Access

Our data is available to anyone who wants to use it, as we want to encourage more people to vote and get involved in political processes across the continent by promoting digital civic education and access to information.

Partnerships

Partnerships in the areas of data, news, and elections are welcome. Email us at info@pollsafrica.com if you’re interested in using our election monitoring tool’s enhanced features or in accessing in-depth, customized analyses.
