National Transitional Council of Guinea-Bissau

National Transitional Council de la Guinée-Bissau : CNT members

Guinea-Bissau's National Transitional Council, appointed rather than elected. The High Military Command created the body by Resolution 02/ACM/2025 of 4 December 2025 and named its 66 members by Resolution 04/ACM/2025 on 11 December 2025; the council took office on 12 December 2025 and has acted as the country's legislature since. It replaced the directly elected National People's Assembly, which was dissolved after the takeover of 26 November 2025. Members sit in the five groups the resolution created rather than in parties, and no election has been held for the chamber. This page lists 66 CNT members for which we hold a source link, sur 66 sièges. Party is the party shown on our record. We last checked it on 22 octobre 2026.

The roster of Guinea-Bissau's National Transitional Council comes from Resolution 04/ACM/2025 of the High Military Command, dated Bissau 11 December 2025, as published by Rádio Bantaba and mirrored by FaladePapagaio, both read on 22 October 2026. The council's record at the Inter-Parliamentary Union was used to confirm the date it took office and the name of its Speaker. No portraits are shown because the resolution publishes none. Licence. Resolução 04/ACM/2025 conditions.

This page lists the 66 people named to Guinea-Bissau's National Transitional Council (Conselho Nacional de Transição), the body that has acted as the country's legislature since it took office on 12 December 2025. Why there is no elected chamber. The directly elected National People's Assembly, which had 102 seats, was dissolved after the takeover of 26 November 2025 and has not sat since. The High Military Command created the transitional council by Resolution 02/ACM/2025 of 4 December 2025 and named its members by Resolution 04/ACM/2025, dated Bissau 11 December 2025. The council took office on 12 December 2025. No legislature has been elected since: a general election was set for 6 December 2026, but in October 2026 the government, the national electoral commission and the council itself told the transitional president that the date could not be met, and no new date has been set. Where the names come from. The list is the resolution's own roster, published by Rádio Bantaba on 11 December 2025 and mirrored the same month by FaladePapagaio. Both publications carry the same 66 names, checked one against the other name by name. Names are reproduced exactly as the resolution prints them, including forms that differ from how those people are usually written. Where the source prints a military rank before a name, the rank is held in a separate official-name field, so names sort and link cleanly. No name has been added, translated or corrected against a third source. How the 66 are grouped. The resolution divides its list into five groups: 10 personalities designated by the transitional president, 16 from the High Military Command, 20 representatives of political parties, 11 from civil society, and 9 representatives of the regions, covering Bissau, Biombo, Cacheu, Bafatá, Gabú, Oio, Tombali, Quinara and Bolama/Bijagós. The group on each member page is the group the resolution puts that person in. It is not a party: the resolution prints no party affiliation for any member and this site shows none. Who presides. Tomás Djassi is Speaker of the council, in office since it took office on 12 December 2025. He is one of the 66 named in the resolution and is listed here with that role. Counting: 66 or 65. The resolution names 66 people. The Inter-Parliamentary Union records the chamber as 65 members plus a Speaker, and one press report described the list as 65 elements while printing all 66 names. The Speaker is counted among the 66 here, which accounts for the difference. This page lists every person the resolution names and does not treat the difference as an error or a missing seat. What the source does not publish, and what this page therefore does not show. The resolution publishes names, groups and regions only. It gives no photographs, no party affiliation, no constituency and no individual date of appointment. So no member page here carries a portrait, a party, a constituency or a personal start date beyond the date the council took office. Member pages are offered to search engines only when they carry both a portrait and a start date, so the individual member pages are currently excluded from indexing while the country page and the chamber page remain indexed. What this page does not claim. It does not call any seat invalid, and it does not name anyone as a member who is not printed in the resolution. If the council changes, the roster is rebuilt from a dated source and the change is recorded here rather than made quietly. Corrections. If a name, group or region looks wrong, write to corrections@pollsafrica.com with the name and the source you are relying on. Every correction is checked against the resolution before anything changes.
