La Libye a pour capitale Tripoli (Tarabulus). Sa population est de 7 458 555 (Banque mondiale, 2025). Selon le World Factbook de la CIA, son système de gouvernement est : en transition. President of the Presidential Council Muhammad al-Manfi est chef de l’État; Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (Tripoli) Abdulhamid Dbeibah est chef du gouvernement; Deputy President of the Presidential Council Abdullah al-Lafi est le suppléant. La plus récente élection nationale enregistrée par IFES ElectionGuide a eu lieu le 25 juin 2014. La source indique que la prochaine élection nationale est attendue en December 2026. Les élections sont organisées par High National Elections Commission (المفوضية الوطنية العليا للانتخابات, HNEC).
