National Assembly of Gambia: NAMs
The Gambia's National Assembly, elected on 9 April 2022 and sworn in at the first sitting on 14 April 2022. The chamber has 58 seats: 53 members elected constituency by constituency and 5 nominated after the election. All 58 are listed here. The Assembly's current seating is shown, with the declared 9 April 2022 result beside it; two members elected on the UDP ticket now sit as independents. This page lists 58 NAMs for which we hold a source link, out of 58 seats. Party is the party shown on our record. We last checked it on 21 Oct 2026.
Member names, constituencies, party grouping and portraits come from the National Assembly of The Gambia's own member profiles at assembly.gm, read on 21 October 2026. Constituency results and vote counts come from the Independent Electoral Commission's published result of the National Assembly election of 9 April 2022. A pinned revision of the Wikipedia article on that election (CC BY-SA 4.0) was consulted for spellings and the party cross-check only. Licence. National Assembly of The Gambia terms.
This page lists all 58 members of the Sixth Legislature of The Gambia's National Assembly, elected on 9 April 2022 and sworn in when the Assembly first sat on 14 April 2022. Fifty-three members were elected constituency by constituency and five were nominated after the election. All 58 are listed, which matches the Assembly's own count of its membership. Where the names come from. The list is taken from the National Assembly of The Gambia's own member profiles at assembly.gm, one page per member, read on 21 October 2026. Each profile prints the member's name, the constituency they represent, the party the Assembly groups them under, their portrait and their contact details. The names, constituencies and party grouping here are the Assembly's. Every constituency result was then checked against the Independent Electoral Commission's published result of the National Assembly election of 9 April 2022: the IEC certifies the winner and the vote count in each of the 53 constituencies, and all 53 seats reconcile member for member. The IEC's vote figures are shown on each elected member's page. A pinned revision of the Wikipedia article on the 2022 Gambian parliamentary election, reused under CC BY-SA 4.0 at the revision linked from every member page, was consulted for spellings and for the cross-check on party numbers only. Party numbers: why they differ from election night. The seat split shown on this page is the seating the Assembly prints today: National People's Party 18, Independent 14, United Democratic Party 13, National Reconciliation Party 4, People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism 2, Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction 2. That is fourteen independents, not the twelve the IEC declared. The difference is two members, Abdou Sowe (Kombo East) and Yahya Sanyang (Latrikunda Sabiji), who were elected on the United Democratic Party ticket and whom the Assembly now groups as independents. The IEC's declared result, and the Wikipedia article that follows it, both give UDP 15 and independents 12. We publish the Assembly's current seating because this is a list of who sits in the chamber now, and we show the declared result beside it rather than silently choosing one. The five nominated members. The Assembly's five nominated seats are listed as Nominated Seat 1 to Nominated Seat 5, which is how the Assembly's own profiles label them. The Assembly does not attach a party to these seats and neither do we, so they appear without a party rather than being assigned to the governing party. One of them, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, is the Speaker, and another, Seedy SK Njie, is the Deputy Speaker. Offices. The eight offices shown (Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Majority and Minority Leaders, their deputies, and the Majority and Minority Chief Whips) are the ones the Assembly's leadership page lists, matched to members by name. Terms of service are not published here. Each Assembly profile prints both a first-elected year and a number of terms served, and on this legislature the two contradict each other: every one of the 58 profiles says first elected 2022, while the terms served figure runs from one to three, with 38 members shown as serving a first term and 20 as serving a second or third. Both cannot be true of a chamber that first sat in April 2022. Rather than publish a figure we cannot stand behind, no first-elected year or term count is shown. What is shown is the start of the current term, 14 April 2022, which all 58 profiles support. Spellings. Four members are spelled differently on the Assembly's profile from the IEC's result sheet: Alhagie S. Darbo (IEC: Darboe), Birom Sowe (IEC: Birom J.S. Sowe), Kebba T. Sanneh (IEC: Kebba Tumanding Sanneh) and Sheriff Sarr (IEC: Sheriff S. Sarr). In each case the Assembly's own spelling is published and the IEC spelling is noted on the member page. The Assembly also writes honorifics in short form, for example Alh. Babou Ceesay for Alhagie Babou Ceesay. Portraits and contact details. The portraits are the Assembly's own official photographs, reproduced unaltered and credited to the National Assembly of The Gambia on every member page. The Assembly's profiles for this legislature carry no usable contact details: every one of the 58 reads "Contact information not available." Nothing is therefore withheld from this page, and no e-mail address appears anywhere in this list.
