Africa elections 2027: the national election calendar

21 national elections in 18 countries fall between now and the end of 2027, 6 of them with a set date.

From 10 Oct 2026 to the end of 2027 the calendar holds 21 national elections and 8 local elections. 6 national elections have a set date. The other 15 are due within the period and show the year they are due by.

How we compiled this

Dates come from each country's electoral commission website. Where a commission site could not be reached, the date comes from IFES ElectionGuide. Every row was retrieved on 21 Oct 2026 and cross-checked against the Africa Elects calendar, the EISA African Election Calendar and IPU Parline. National means presidential, parliamentary, general, senate elections and referendums. A year on its own, shown as “Due by”, means the vote falls within that year and the day is not yet announced. All counts are calculated from the calendar data when the page is built.
