Independence, brand rankings and right of reply
How we keep our rankings fair, and what brands can expect from us.
Our rankings are independent
We fund our own rankings and indices. No brand can pay to be included, to move up, or to be left out. We publish the method, the sample and the questions for every study so anyone can judge the result.
No badges, no seals
We do not sell badges, winner seals or awards. A brand may quote its own result and link to the study, and must not change the wording or imply that we endorse it.
How we present brands
We present each brand from its strengths: where it leads and what people say it does best. We use factual wording and never mock a brand. We do not change a number to flatter anyone, and we publish what readers need to judge the data.
Right of reply
Named brands can see their own results on our dashboard before we publish. Results shown before publication are marked provisional. Brands have a working day or two to tell us about a factual error. We check every claim. If we made a mistake we correct it and say so. We do not change a result because a brand dislikes it.
- Each brand sees only its own results, and totals for its category.
- Provisional results are not for publication or quotation. Access ends if a brand quotes them.
- Brands do not contact fieldwork staff or respondents.
Commissioned work
Brands that want deeper figures can commission a study from us. Commissioned work is labelled as such and is kept apart from our own rankings.
Corrections
If we find an error we fix it quickly and note the correction and the date on the page. To report a problem email corrections@pollsafrica.com or write to research@pollsafrica.com.
