Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan, has its capital at Khartoum and a population of 51,662,147 (World Bank, 2025). The CIA World Factbook describes its system of government as a presidential republic. Chairman, Sovereignty Council (SC) Abd al-Fatah al-Burhan Abd al-Rahman (in office since 11 Nov 2021) is head of state; Deputy Chairman, Sovereignty Council Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo is the deputy.
