Youth unemployment
Young people are usually the first to lose out when jobs are short. In most African countries the youth rate is about double the overall rate.
Why your country's own figure may differ
Each statistics office runs its own labour force survey, with its own definition of who is working and who is looking. The ILO adjusts every country to one method so they can be compared. We rank on the ILO estimate and show the national figure beside it.
